Handcoloriert Pierce Egan "Life in London" 9 Originaldrucke 1

Wir bieten hier 9 handcolorierte Drucke von Pierce Egan "Life in London" gerahmt. Die Beschreibung und Hintergrudinformationen sind anbei.
Es handelt sich um die Vorläufer der modernen Comics und sind zwischen 1821 und 1831 erschienen.
Die Drucke befinden sich seit ca 90 Jahren in den Rahmen, sind nie geöffnet worden und hingen in einem Herrenhaus in der Nähe von Cambridge.
Die Druckplatten wurden gefertigt von Robert Cruickshank und handcoloriert.

The Pictures & Frame
Each one says “drawn and engraved by Robert Cruickshank”
Each picture is approx. 18 x 13cm (may be slightly bigger as I cannot see the edges due to the mounting)

Framed in 3’s – each frame being approx 70 x 22cm – with metal chain for hanging.
Frames are marked as Charles & Co, Pembridge Frameries W11. Frames are black with gold trim.
Not sure if they are contemporary with the pictures but certainly old.
These pictures were owned by a family member and used to hang in a property near Huntingdon, propably since 1920’s/1930’s and we cannot remember them being in a different frame.

The pictures are certainly somewhat faded with age but seem to be in good overall condition giver their age. The mounts are also discoloured but again this is consistent with their age & the fact they’ve been hung on a wall in daylight for 50+ years.

Description
Underneath each picture is a description of the scene as follows:

Set 1:
1. Tom, Jerry and Logic assisting at the Ceremony of making the “uncommonly big gentleman” a buffalo

2. Splendid Jem once a dashing hero in the Metropolis, recognized by Tom amongst the convicts in the dock yard at Chatham – there is a tear of approx. 2cm in the bottom of this print where the text is written

3. How to finish a night to be up and dressed in the morning. Tom awake – Jerry caught napping – Logic on the go and the uncommonly big gentleman abroad!
